Freeware, Windows

So, has UAC in Vista driven you up the wall yet? Driven you to the point, where you’ve done the research to disable it completely. The fact that you have to press the annoying UAC continue button so frequently that it becomes a built in Windows habit, that eventually will lean you towards allowing viruses, spyware, etc…

Disabling UAC completely defeats one of the big security features of Windows Vista. The fact is, Microsoft is very aware of the problem and complaints, but yet to make any changes with updates or it’s lone service pack. Well, finally some 3rd party support is implementing what essentially a ‘mod’ of UAC. One just recently release from Norton, adds probably the biggest thing that UAC is lacking, a ‘remember’ option.

It will remember anything you mark as trustworthy and will ignore those items during your next session. Here’s Norton putting simply:

The Norton User Account Control tool will replace parts of the Windows Vista UAC system. It will utilize the UAC security feature from the Windows Vista architecture, while simultaneously improving user-friendliness significantly. The tool prompts recommendations based on an assessment on the user-action i.e. the signature information of the executable. The tool also has a “remember me” feature that allows users to suppress future prompts from the same action.

Don’t you think this is yet another painful software just like Windows UAC?

After a while you will just keep clicking allow to everything.

My suggestion is to just disable UAC, keep Windows Firewall on, run a good antivirus and scan all pendrives and harddisks that you plug into your system.

I still dont understand the point of UAC. I mean of course I want to run the program if im doubling clicking it lol. The thing I hate the most is the stupid Windows Firewall. That thing is so annoying….and I like hardware firewalls much better ;)

I agree with Dan and Ajay – windows firewall is the best thing for preventing user to work. And after two or three weeks you simple automatically clicks “allow” to everything, don’t even reading, what is this. Every user, who want to work comfortably, after Windows installed turns off firewall and installed good antivirus and good firewall from other deweloper.
