The go to method to receiving up to date news information these days is via RSS feeds. Whether through blogging, news, or just a periodically updated website, it is THE defacto method of delivering information. Although to those who aren’t quiet as tech savvy, may have no idea of its purpose, those of us whom are, are always looking for new way to receiving our “feeds”.

Google Reader quickly came to the forefront as the most popular RSS reader on the net. There were many online and offline competitors to Google’s powerful product, none have really come close thus far. One that I recently discovered that works much differently than most, is Snackr RSS.

Snackr RSS Reader is both an on and offline RSS reading solution that has a much different approach to displaying feeds. Snackr utilizes Adobe’s amazing Air product, scrolling your news across the bottom, top, left or right sections of your screen.

After you begin either manually entering your feeds, or importing them via a OPML file, Snackr will begin randomly scrolling your various articles at your specified location. As they scroll across the screen, you can simply click on any item and see a quick snippet of what it has to offer. If you want to continue onto the full article, you can do so quickly by clicking “View Post”, where it will take you to the posting in your default web browser.

Just this past week, Google announced one of the easiest and what is sure to be one of the most popular iPhone apps in the App Store. They’ve essentially removed the sometimes annoying touch screen keyboard and integrated voice recognition to their search capabilities.

Every enhanced ability of Google search appears to be part of the application. Whether you want to find out the weather in a particular location, the movie times in your local theater or even the built-in calculator. It looks like an amazing product from our amazing friends at Google, and it’s just one more reason to talk you into buying an iPhone. I would assume that this same capability will be built-in to their G1 phone with TMobile as well.

Here is a great tour of the new app’s ability:

So, after months of only tinkering with Google Calendar, I think two incredibly simple add-ons for Google Calendar have sold me on the product. I don’t have a smart phone, so I’ve had no way of accessing it through a phone, and essentially I’ve just been going the long route, through a bookmark or through the lame ‘Calendar’ link in GMail.

Well, just in the past month or so, two amazing ‘add-ons’, one released by Google and the 2nd by a Firefox contributor, have finally allowed me to consistently begin using Firefox.

The Google/GMail Add-On
Within the past couple of weeks, Google release a new product to the GMail labs, that allows you to add new and custom gadgets to GMail. You can finally view your calendar while viewing your e-mail at the same time. One of the gadgets, is Google Calendar of course.

GCal Pop-Up
Finally a decent Google Calendar Firefox extension. This incredibly simple Firefox Extension, adds a small Google Calendar icon in your Firefox ‘Taskbar’ and immediately pops up your calendar to a full view, for adding, modifying and deleting. At this time, you do have to have a registered account with Mozilla, but the account and the add-on are both free.

Do you have loads of attachments, photos, videos, etc…in your GMail account?…I do. I need something that will help me get all of these organized, help me find lost files, help me group all of my photos together, help me directly link to all of those YouTube links that friends send me. There can’t be a Firefox extension out there for me, can there?

Hmmm…Xoopit??? This is exactly what I’m looking for. It essentially keeps all of my GMail photos, files and videos in the same place, without getting lost in the clutter of your 5GB of e-mail that you have stored in your account. It’s an integrated Google Mail social network, and you need to check it, it’s amazing…see the below video.
