There is no doubt that Microsoft will probably never allow Mozilla to install Microsoft Updates through their site. There is the option of using ieTab, but there is also the option to use a great Firefox add-on. The add-on is called Windiz update and it’s basically it’s own form of Microsoft Windows Updates.
What it simply allows you to do is, pull the same updates from a completely separate server, that is periodically updated. You can see the interface below, but it’s not all that much different then your standard WindowsUpdate.com site.

I am a long time techaholic, blogger and IT administrator living in the Midwestern United States. I have been associated with computers and technology almost my entire life. The obsession started when I first set my eyes on one of the Atari Entertainment Systems and hasn't stopped since.
My Dad paid $3000+ for a state of the art PC back in the day, and I have been on one almost my entire life since. It's truly an addiction that I will never give up.
Along with my Tech addiction, I also enjoy scouring blogs and the web for anything that may be interesting to write about. My posts are displayed here at TheWindowsFix, MakeUseOf and ConnectedInternet.

It’s sad that Lifehacker posted this article - and even sadder that so many other sites have reposted this article without knowing it was incorrect. Windiz was discontinued over a year ago however is still online without updates. They advised this on their site at http://windizupdate.com/forum/ but it’s a bit obscure so many people missed it.
