Any time a new installation is needed on any version of Windows, people tend to hold their breath or cross their fingers, hoping that it won’t screw up their computer. And as we all know, malware can really screw up your system as well, especially when it does so without your knowledge. It would be nice to see any modifications made to a system in real-time. SpyMe Tools does just that.

SpyMe Tools is an application to monitor any registry and disk changes to the system. If anything is installed your PC, SpyMe is able to detect such modifications. Which can become particularly handy when it comes to adware, spyware and just about every other file change at any given point and time.

They do this by constantly looking for changes in your computer and “dumping” them during the various states that it is in. The type of procedure it uses, also makes it work very well for registry backup purposes as well. The dump files are encrypted so that any authorized access cannot look at the specific changes made to the system.

RightClicker by Moo0 is a Windows right-click context menu enhancement tool that adds much desired options. Some of the enhancements it adds to the context menu include:

Opening a duplicate Windows explorer Window

Open, Move and copy to bookmarked folders

Customization of default context menus

The program is very simple in nature, but it does give you a lot of the things you’d like to see in context menu editing. There is also a pro version that does offer even more additional customization, but try the free first and I bet you’ll be happy with what you get.

As we know, there many many options out there for sharing files on the web, but most require some type of registration and the others have limitations that you just don’t want to deal with. Well, how about hosting your file server, on your own computer?

HFS stands for “HTTP File Server”. It’s a file sharing application service that runs on your PC, and allows for easy sharing of files on any internet capable computer.

The program is just one single executable file that sits in the system tray of your Windows PC. Once running, you’ll need to have port 80 forwarded properly to you PC if you’d like the entire world to have access to the files.

Of course there are additional security measures put in place so that you can limit what public and private users can do with these files. Files can be uploaded manually, or you can add a simple ‘Add to HFS’ to your Windows context menu as well. Here is a look at the web interface, with a few files.

The add-on is called Windiz update and it’s basically it’s own form of Microsoft Windows Updates.

What it simply allows you to do is, pull the same updates from a completely separate server, that is periodically updated. You can see the interface below, but it’s not all that much different then your standard WindowsUpdate.com site.

So, after months of only tinkering with Google Calendar, I think two incredibly simple add-ons for Google Calendar have sold me on the product. I don’t have a smart phone, so I’ve had no way of accessing it through a phone, and essentially I’ve just been going the long route, through a bookmark or through the lame ‘Calendar’ link in GMail.

Well, just in the past month or so, two amazing ‘add-ons’, one released by Google and the 2nd by a Firefox contributor, have finally allowed me to consistently begin using Firefox.

The Google/GMail Add-On
Within the past couple of weeks, Google release a new product to the GMail labs, that allows you to add new and custom gadgets to GMail. You can finally view your calendar while viewing your e-mail at the same time. One of the gadgets, is Google Calendar of course.

GCal Pop-Up
Finally a decent Google Calendar Firefox extension. This incredibly simple Firefox Extension, adds a small Google Calendar icon in your Firefox ‘Taskbar’ and immediately pops up your calendar to a full view, for adding, modifying and deleting. At this time, you do have to have a registered account with Mozilla, but the account and the add-on are both free.

Looking to get into the habit of limiting your browser time? Do you have a serious addiction? Do you need to monitor your Firefox drug problem? Well, I just ran across this nice little Firefox extension called ‘TimeTracker’ that simply tracks your total browsing time in Firefox. It sits in the lower right hand corner of your browser and is ALWAYS ticking, unless you switch to another browser or another application. It is smart enough to pause the ticker, as soon as you flip to another program.

It also includes several options to exclude certain websites, track total time since last reset or even since you installed the add-on.

There are several of these add-ons out there, all doing several different things, but I saw this as the simplelest and most viewable clock of your browser time.

According to some, we aren’t even looking at the fastest browser that Mozilla has to offer. They have been working on an ‘underground’ prototype called Minefield for quite a while now. According to Ars Technica it can render JavaScript up to 10% faster then even Google’s Chrome. It looks as though Mozilla might have thoughts of eventually migrating this into their future Firefox browsers and taking back the ‘Fastest Browser in the World’ crown.

I downloaded it myself and didn’t see any noticeable difference, but you will notice right away that it attempts to integrate all of your present Firefox extensions, which it will fail to do. The fortunate part is that it runs as a completely seperate browser from Firefox, and could even be run side-by-side if one would like.

Check it out, I wasn’t sold, but maybe you will be… Download Nightly Builds Here (MAC, Linux, Windows)

I need something that will help me get all of these organized, help me find lost files, help me group all of my photos together, help me directly link to all of those YouTube links that friends send me. There can’t be a Firefox extension out there for me, can there?

Hmmm…Xoopit??? This is exactly what I’m looking for. It essentially keeps all of my GMail photos, files and videos in the same place, without getting lost in the clutter of your 5GB of e-mail that you have stored in your account. It’s an integrated Google Mail social network, and you need to check it, it’s amazing…see the below video.
